180th Deployment Processing & Fitness Center

Toledo, Ohio

This new 10,900 sq. ft. facility, currently in design, will serve as a clearinghouse for the deployment processing as well as the fitness center for the Toledo 180th Fighter Wing. As part of this project we have been tasked with adhering to a stringent set of standards put forth by the Department of Defense which require supplemental design consideration, detailing, and analyzation. These facility standards include target hardening the building from terrorism, incorporating mass notification and involving the base standards. Involved in the design are agents from the federal government, the state, the local base personnel, and the end-users.

The building is a CMU and metal joist structure with brick veneer façade and metal panel roofing to match existing buildings on base. With a total square footage of 10,900 square feet, 73% of the building’s function is for the deployment processing. The deployment processing consists of a large, multi-use room with telescopic seating for gathering, large overhead doors for baggage handling, and AV capabilities for briefings and ceremonies. Also included in the deployment processing is an auxiliary space which functions as a private conversation area for last minute deployment personnel needs. The fitness center is the remainder of the building, housing fitness equipment and exercise space for facilitating readiness, good health, and morale of Toledo’s ANG members.
