University of Toledo Law Center Mock Court Room

Toledo, Ohio

The Mock Courtroom, located in the University of Toledo College of Law, was dark, outdated, and not-at-all functional as a courtroom or classroom. Because of this, the space was seldom used and contributed very little to the College. The University decided to revamp this space and create a showcase that could be utilized as a recruiting tool for potential students, and incorporate the necessary technology for mock trials, student presentations, and classes.

The scope of this interior renovation included new finishes and technology. New carpet, paint, and acoustical ceiling were provided to update the interior aesthetic of the courtroom, and existing millwork was repaired, refinished, and accompanied by new seating. To address the darkness of the space, new lighting and window coverings were installed, and the addition of a large window added sight lines from the interior of the courtroom to the open atrium area of the Law Center. New technology was incorporated to allow law students to become familiar with the industry standard for sharing evidence, presenting their cases, and collaborating with fellow students within the new courtroom space.

Overall the newly renovated Mock Courtroom has become a focal point of the Law Center, and provides the University of Toledo College of Law a functional and aesthetically pleasing space to enhance the quality of education for their students.
