Project Flashback…

One of Buehrer Group’s first projects designed with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification in mind was the Reynolds Corners Branch Library. The original 15,000 square foot building was constructed in 1985. In 2009, Buehrer Group designed a complete reorganization of the existing space within the shell of the existing library. An addition of a new main entry and the conversion of an interior open-air court yard into enclosed usable space allowing patrons to use the area year-round.

In December of 2009 the facility was awarded a Silver status making it the first public library in the State of Ohio to obtain this status. Sustainable design features included the use of certified wood products, using materials with low VOC contents and the selection of finish materials both containing recycled contents and locally produced materials. Reuse of existing materials and the diversion of building materials that would have traditionally gone to a landfill were recycled.
