About Us

Buehrer Group Architecture & Engineering was formed as a sole proprietorship by Huber H. Buehrer in 1984. The company’s first new school, Bryan Middle School opened in 1987. This was followed by other school projects including the Buckeye Valley Middle School, which was the recipient of the 1998 James D. MacConnell Award for being the best planned educational facility in North America.

In December 2001, the firm began operating as an S Corporation, with Kent Buehrer serving as President. The firm has continued along the same path, serving school districts, religious groups, public libraries, and other commercial and governmental entities across Ohio and Michigan.

Buehrer Group Architecture and Engineering, Inc. practices “participatory design” that is deeply rooted in the way buildings are conceptualized and brought to fruition. The Project Owner and Owner’s Staff are as much a part of the developmental design process as is the architect. We know that all opinions are important and therefore strive to involve as many people as possible in the design process. It is our philosophy, that who better to influence the design of the spaces in a new facility than those who will be the direct user. When we provide an atmosphere where we can enable individuals to do a better job and work more efficiently, we have then created a successful project, a great building and a wonderful space to learn and work.

Coupled with this design philosophy on complete involvement, Buehrer Group Architecture and Engineering, Inc. has a better ability to control project costs by keeping the use of outside consultants to a minimum. We pride ourselves in being able to offer to our clients a full range of in-house services – from architecture and interior design, to civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, construction administrators, and a technology specialist. Buehrer Group is a complete team of 16 professionals working for you to keep costs down while providing you with the maximum amount of building for the minimum total expenditure.

Our Firm is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council with 13 LEED accredited professionals strongly committed to green design for a healthy environment and energy efficiency. We are one of the few design firms operating in a LEED Gold facility here in the State of Ohio.
