The new 20,000- square-foot station will replace the current Station Number 41 at 5002 Seaman Road. Station Number 42 at 1102 S. Wheeling and Station Number 43 at 4421 Bayshore Rd. will continue to operate as satellite stations staffed by paid-per-call part-time firefighters.

The new building will have five drive-through apparatus bays, modern living quarters for the on-duty crews and will house two engines, two medic units, Life Squad 8, a brush truck, a supervisor vehicle and provisions for the tower ladder.

Inside, the fire station will include six offices with IT, copy and server room, and Watch Commander room. There will be an 11-bed dorm room style sleeping quarters for the fire fighters, commercial grade kitchen with dining area, day room, dirty room for commercial and domestic laundry, clean room for storage, room for firefighting gear with negative pressure ventilation, compressor room, bulk storage area, equipment and tool storage area, a workout room, and a training room to accommodate up to 30 people.
