Monclova Township, Ohio
The existing maintenance building for Monclova Township was originally constructed of concrete block and incorporated a low sloped built-up roof system. Recently the Township began to develop the surrounding property with recreational fields for public enjoyment, therefore creating an eyesore of the original maintenance building which stands at the entrance to the park. Under this project, the entire exterior surface was clad with prefinished steel wall panels along with a new sloped standing seam metal roof on steel columns and purlins. To help create a more energy efficient building an additional 12” thickness of insulation was incorporated at the original roof structure along with rigid insulation underneath the new wall panels. All new doors, including overhead doors, and windows were installed increasing the operating efficiency.
As the township grows so to must its maintenance facility in order to keep up with the new demands being placed upon it. Additional restrooms were constructed while the office and break rooms were renovated. Vehicle bays also received attention in the renovation with trench drains and new concrete floors. A vehicle wash bay was added in the southwest corner of the site. The electrical needs of the facility were addressed as the old out dated electrical service was brought to current building code compliance. A vehicle refueling station was created with gas storage tanks and pumps all meeting appropriate environmental safeguards. This project was completed while the facility remained operational. Construction work progressed in phases.
